Had the car in for the brake fix needed from my last post , so since Friday I’ve had an XT-5. Comfy, lots of space for bringing things to the IMSA Northeast Grand Prix this weekend, and a good Home Depot run.

But, today I noticed my basement was leaking in the downpours and thought about that cost, on top of all the other house costs I have coming soon. Then I had a dentist appointment, my 5th this year with thousands of $$ dentistry to go this year. I got way down. Until I picked up my baby.

Kinja'd!!!

And now, after a quick joy ride, EVERYTHING IS BETTER! I love this car so much, and even with all the trouble it’s caused me I always come back to how it drives is the only thing that really matters. I want it forever.

Bonus C8 content!!!: Not that anyone is reading this but I don’t want another full thread... Will the C8 feel much faster than the C7? It didn’t gain THAT much HP and torque, it’s still RWD, and it weighs more. I read how they made the 0-60 much better but when you’re already moving that stuff isn’t nearly as effective in comparison. I could be wrong, please correct be, but I think it might not be a linear increase comparing 0-60 improvements vs highway passing improvements.

It depends on how solid the DCT is for gear runs. I am very very interested in the C8's 5-60 and 50-70 rolling time.

As far as butt dyno, you can get used to any horsepower, and you have to set up empiric results to ensure you stay even remotely objective. I knew I had a problem when 400 hp started to feel sluggish

That is how you know you got the right car. Driving it should make all your worries disappear. I know my car does the same thing

How/where is the basement leaking?  Moving around dirt and fixing the grading often yields a huge improvement for little (monetary) cost.

I think that that the C8 will feel faster. Not because of the DCT or even the “butt dyno.

It will be the “brain dyno”.  You’re sitting in a mid-engine, v8, driver oriented car with modern tech.  You’re gonna feel like GOD.

Hence the Home Depot run with soil and such haha I’m going to give it a try but yeah I was spiraling a bit. Thanks!

That’s why I drove a Cayman, Cayman S, and my then Mustang GT back to back to see what the real differences were. It’s the delta you feel immediately going between them.

Oooh so like a constant placebo of being able to drive what feels like a Ferarri, but you can actually afford it. Interesting. I agree with that premise, though I still prefer the C7 haha

B.R.A.P.P.

The C8’s dual-clutch is geared pretty short from 1-6 and 7-8 are the only tall gears. Add the improved mid-engine traction and the 0-60 improves a lot. Passing on the freeway shouldn’t be too bad either if it can drop a bunch of gears when prompted to.

I read for years on here how many of you have this response and I yearned  for it. My mustang was incredible, but it just wasn't special. Oppo's passion is a large amount of why I have the Cayman now.

I know exactly how you feel. My WRX has been in the shop for a week, (nothing serious, replacing the factory sub of all things under warrantee and the dealer flubbed ordering the part...) I have been in a loaner 2019 Forester “Sport” and it is nice, roomy, all the bells and whistles, drives decently, auto braking, lane departure this and that, etc. . But getting the WRX back this afternoon - I could not  stop smiling.

I really don't want all the new tech tbh. But I'm sure it's not an option anymore.

agree - I park up against a wall at work and the damn anti collision system would hit the brakes and cut the motor when I was over 2ft from the wall... So I’d start it again and roll up the rest of the way into the spot... My wife got a kick out of it beeping at me for various lane departure, you are too close to the car in front of you, blind spot warnings, etc, etc infractions as we’d drive down the road....

Haha admittedly I kinda liked the vibrating seat when a car drives behind me as I’m backing up and only vibrating the side the car is on . That’s space age shit right there.
